Stanley Curtis

Impromptu chamber group (with Victor Yuen, Sarah Herbert, and Robby Collins) during Tim Dzida’s and the International Baroque Consort’s masterclass. We had a blast, baroque and modern trumpet and four-hand piano (transposed—playing a Bach chorale) with extended techniques. Our group name? The Baroque Doors!

I was called in to perform with the International Baroque Consort for a last minute gig and they were so wonderful to work with! Not only are each of the players superb in their own right, they had such an easy communication between them that allowed for high-level musicality without many words exchanged. Mastery of their respective instruments was apparent as was their vast knowledge of early music performance practices. Stepping into repertoire with them felt incredibly natural and as if we’d performed together for years.
